Catechetical Certification Program Coming to Belize City
The graduates of LIMEX led by Karen Brustman from PG facilitated the four courses for the basic level of the program. Seventeen persons from PG received their Basic Certificates. This year the Intermediate Certificate courses are being offered there.
Sr. Leona Panton and a group of religious education coordinators presented the same program in the Cayo district where twenty-eight teachers completed the basic level. All the participants were very pleased and enthusiastic about what they received from the mini-courses.
We are proud to announce that this year the Belize City LIMEX graduates are facilitating this program for the Belize district. It began October 3rd with an Orientation at the Holy Redeemer Conference Room. Five religion teachers or lay ministers were invited from every school or parish in Belize City and surrounding area. This program will strengthen the theological knowledge of leaders in every Catholic primary school and parish in Belize. Seven LIMEX graduates and an associate, who will serve as facilitators in Belize City, attended a training session on August 29.
This program was designed and implemented by Ms. Brustman, Sr. Leona Panton, RSM and Sr. Maggie Cooper, SCN; it is co-sponsored by the Diocesan Catechetical Center and St. John’s College, School of Professional Studies. Continued Professional Development (CPD) clock hour credit is awarded by the Ministry of Education.
