For Masters and Certificate Students
Saturday, 12 May 2012 at 4:30 P.M.
Ignatius Chapel and Danna Center on the Loyola University New Orleans Campus
The Institute for Ministry has planned a special Eucharistic liturgy for Saturday afternoon. A festive New Orleans Jazz reception will follow in the St. Charles Room of the Danna Center. Both Master’s and Certificate students receive special recognition during this LIM celebration. Your family and friends are welcome at both of these events. If you are attending the liturgy and reception, please complete the RSVP form and return it to the LIM office by 13 April to let us know your guest count and to ensure that your name will be called at the liturgy and marked in the liturgy program.
For all degree students who will graduate in May, August, or December of 2011 are invited to participate in the cap and gown ceremony. These are groups with a Course Ten due date between 30 Nov. 2011 and 30 Nov. 2012.
Saturday, 12 May at 9:45 a.m.
Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans
Detailed information on the Loyola commencement is found on the Loyola University Commencement web page.
All 2012 degree candidates and certificate candidates should already have applied for graduation online at Student Records. Your college is LIM/LIMEX and the certificates are also listed on the degree pull-down menu. If you do not apply for degree or certificate graduation, you will not be on any graduation lists, you will not be awarded a diploma or certificate, and your transcript will not reflect that a degree or certificate was earned by you. If you have not yet applied for graduation (degree/certificate), you need to do so NOW.
After you submit your application, you will receive an email response to your loyno.edu email account that your application has been submitted. (Instructions for using your loyno.edu email account are on the Technology Guide DVD given to you by your facilitator and in the LIMEX Policy Manual. The most recent copy of the manual is found on the LIM documents website in the student section. If you do not know your loyno.edu email address, you can find it by going to LORA (where you check your grades and other student information).
The university charges a $250 graduation fee to degree candidates. An invoice will be sent to you from the university, in the term of graduation that you indicated on your graduation application that your degree would be earned (usually, the semester in which you are taking Course Ten). The fee covers the cost of your cap and gown (which you keep), your diploma and diploma cover, the ceremony itself, and free lifetime transcripts. So even if you do not attend commencement, go ahead and order a cap and gown since it is included in the fee. CEU students are not charged this graduation fee.
You may begin ordering your cap and gown (regalia) from the Loyola bookstore beginning 17 February 2012. The last day to order your cap and gown is 16 March 2012. After that date, regalia will not be available. Late orders will NOT be taken. To place an order, you may call the bookstore at 504-865-3262 and ask for Dwan Haydel, or fax her at 504-865-2888, or email her at dhaydel@loyno.edu being sure to include the information below. Please let Ms. Haydel know that you are an off-campus LIM student.
Degree candidates attending commencement may pick up regalia from the bookstore between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on the Thursday and Friday before commencement or at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Superdome.
For those not attending, caps and gowns will be mailed beginning on 16 June. The bookstore would prefer to mail them all to one person from the group. If a group chooses this option, please fax or email all the information for each degree candidate in one email/fax, clearly indicating to whom the caps and gowns should be shipped. If a member of your group who is attending the ceremonies in New Orleans will pick up your regalia for you, please email Dwan Haydel at dhaydel@loyno.edu before 30 April to inform who will be doing so. If at all possible, to save postage, please have someone pick up your regalia for you who is attending the ceremonies.
