Loyola University New Orleans, through its Institute for Ministry (LIM), offers master’s degrees in pastoral studies and religious education entirely online. Loyola’s online program is based on forty years experience in ministry education and in distance education. Ours is a professionally oriented graduate program that develops the theological and ministerial competencies of participants through an integration of academic study with theological reflection on ministerial practice and the participants’ lived adult experience as people of faith.
Students come from all walks of life, some students are new to the field of theology and ministry, while others are already working as ecclesial ministers or religious educators, others may work in hospitals, social service agencies, various businesses, or other settings. Students of all faiths who seek to develop their theological knowledge and ministerial skills are welcome to the program.
- Begin by taking one of our online focus or elective courses this September Schedule of Classes
- In January 2010 take Introduction to Practical Theology, the first course in the theological core.
- On-campus classroom courses may be combined with online courses to fulfill degree requirements.
- Optional two-week summer sessions on campus in New Orleans are available for students who want to complete their programs in less time
